Why Are Plates Being Replaced?

Since 2014, the Philippines has standardized to white reflective plates. The replacement program covers vehicles still using older green plates from the previous era. Replacement is mandatory in some categories.

Tracking Your Replacement

  2. Enter your existing (green) plate number or MV File Number
  3. Click track
  4. Status shows progress through replacement workflow

Replacement Process

  1. File replacement request at LTO branch with old plate
  2. Pay applicable fees (varies, typically ₱400-₱600)
  3. Wait 2-8 weeks for production
  4. Receive notification (SMS or tracker status change)
  5. Pick up new white plate, surrender old green plate

Do I have to replace my green plate?

Generally yes, especially for commercial vehicles and during regular renewals. LTO has been phasing out green plates since 2014. Check with your branch for current replacement deadline for your vehicle type.

Will my plate number change in replacement?

Usually no — same plate number, just new physical plates in white format. In rare cases (very old or non-standard formats), a new number may be issued.

How much is the replacement fee?

Approximately ₱400-₱600 depending on vehicle type and reason for replacement. Same fee whether it's the green-to-white program or just a damaged plate replacement.
