What If My License is Expired?
If your physical license has expired and the new one hasn't arrived:
- The LTO acknowledgment receipt + valid government ID acts as a temporary license
- Carry these together when driving until the new card arrives
- Don't drive without proof of license — this is a violation
- Track via the LTO Tracker to know when to expect delivery
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get a new driver's license?
First-issue student permits take 5-10 days, full Non-Professional licenses 7-15 days, Professional licenses 10-20 days, and renewals usually 5-10 days. Foreign conversions take longer (15-30 days, postal only).
What's the difference between Non-Professional and Professional license?
Non-Professional is for private vehicle use only (cars, motorcycles for personal use). Professional allows public utility vehicle (PUV) operation — taxis, buses, jeepneys, ride-hailing. Professional requires more training and tests.
Can I drive while waiting for my license card?
Yes, with the LTO acknowledgment receipt + a valid government ID. This combination acts as temporary proof of license. Don't drive without it — it's considered driving without a license.
What if I lost my license number?
Recover via your LTMS account, your last renewal receipt, or visit the LTO branch where you originally registered with a valid government ID.
Can I track my student permit online?
Yes, student permits use the same tracker. Enter your student permit number (similar 13-digit format) on the Driver's License tab.
