What is the MV File Number? Where to Find It

The MV File Number is your vehicle's unique 15-digit LTO identifier. It looks like: 1301-1002045.

Where to Find It

• Top of your Certificate of Registration (CR)
• On your Original Receipt (OR)
• Dealer paperwork from purchase
• LTMS portal account

Why It Matters

For brand-new vehicles, the MV File is the only way to track your plate before it's been physically assigned. It's also the most reliable identifier when the plate number doesn't work.

Common Errors

Most "Not Found" errors come from leading zeros. 1301-00001002045 should be entered as 1301-1002045.
