Philippine LTO Plate Format Explained

Private Car Format

ABC 1234 — 3 letters + 4 digits, white reflective background, black text.

Motorcycle Format

ABC 123 — 3 letters + 3 digits, smaller plate, same colors.

Commercial (PUV)

Yellow background with black text, same character format as private. Indicates public utility.

Government

Red background, special format (e.g., SR-XXXX). Reserved for official government vehicles.

What the letters mean

Generally sequential alphabetic series. The first letter loosely correlates with region of origin but isn't strictly geographic anymore.
